Belize & Other News!

We are now here in Belize!

Most of you got a support letter from me saying I was doing a DTS in Belize, which, at the time the letter was composed, was the truth. But that changed when the government of Belize decided it needed more money, so they changed around a couple of rules that basically made it so that in order to keep the boats in Belize (where they were based) Destination Paradise would have to pay the government over $100,000. Obviously that wasn’t a very good option, so they moved the boats to beautiful Honduras, which is where my DTS was taking place, until Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning we got the go-ahead from the officials in Belize to come back and start fresh. So, to beat a bad weather system, we waved goodbye to Honduras and set sail for San Pedro Belize at about 5PM. At about 10PM Wednesday morning we arrived in Belize to check in with Customs. Let me just say that sailing through the night is amazing. In order to see anything that may be in the water up ahead, we kept all of the lights off. Its amazing how bright the moonlight can be when its your only source of light! I took the 4AM-6AM watch because the moon set around 2:30AM, and I wanted to watch the sky go from being only illuminated by the stars, to watching the sun come up over the horizon. It was beautiful to say the least. No one else woke up till about 6:30, but I didn’t mind since sailing is a great time to wrestle with and ponder over all the thoughts in your head.

Once we got to Belize and got checked in with customs, we again set sail at about noon for Belize City, where Chris (Our Base Director and Captain) has a couple of meetings with officials starting on Monday. We arrived in Belize city at about 5PM on Wednesday, and by the time we got to Belize City, we had been sailing for 22 of the past 24 hours! It was exhausting, but it was a ton of fun.

So! On to other news:

We just got done with a great week of taking about relationships. Our speaker, John Murphy, leads the Boarders DTS and Social Justice DTS at the Denver YWAM base. He had alot of great things to share, along with some amazing stories. To sum up the week (and as food for thought) John talked about how, when broken down, every problem in the world is a relationship problem. Wrestle with that one for awhile.

Also, I will have a photo diary post up soon, because I realize I have been slacking with that!

I’m trying to update alot of stuff on here this week since we finally have a goo internet connection! This also means that I’ll have plenty of time to answer any questions you might have for me.

I’m going to try to link the blogs of everyone else from my DTS, so that way if you get tired of reading what I write about it, you can look at their stuff!

I’ll try to update a ton of stuff this week and I also have a ton of other news, but I’ll leave it at that for now.

Once again, I cannot thank you all enough. I am here and having all of these experiences because of your support. I cannot write a blog update that is long enough to express how grateful I am for all of the prayer and financial support I have gotten from you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
